FAQ

  • For how long does Nebula candles burn?
The burn time of our candles varies depending on the environment in which the candle is burning. But as a rule of thumb: every ounce of wax gives 6-7 hours of burn time. So a 14 oz. candle would last up to 94 hours!
  • What are the best practices to burn my candle?
Safety first! 😉Never leave a burning candle unattended. Make sure the entire top layer of wax liquifies the first time you burn your new candle. This typically takes 3-4 hours, so you might want to plan ahead! This will help avoid tunneling. You should also be sure to trim your wick to 1/4" if it gets longer than that. • Burn candles away from flammable materials, children and pets. • Do not place candles on or near other heat sources. • Burn the candles on heat resistant surfaces • Extinguish candles with great care ensuring that hot wax does not splatter.
  • Why isn't my candle as smooth as it was before it was burned?
This is one of the minor visual imperfections of 100% soy wax. It is a perfectly normal occurrence with all natural wax and does not affect the quality or performance of the candle. This is actually one way of knowing you are getting an all natural soy candle without any additives or paraffin! ;)
  • Why is my candle releasing soot?
Soot is a natural occurrence with any type of candle.Soot can also be a result of over burning your candle. We recommend burning for no more than 4 hours at time.
  • What are your candles and wicks made off?
Nebula candles are made with love, 100% vegan soy wax, lead free wick, free of dyes and additives, and the highest quality of phthalate free fragrances. Of course as a bonus, in a rehusable beer glass!
  • Can I repurpose my candle jar?
Yes, yes and yes!!! All our candles are made in a beer 🍺 glass. Simply remove the excess wax by pouring hot water and a small amount of dish soap into the vessel. Leave to soak overnight and dispose of the wax. Remove the wick tabs with a plastic fork or plastic knife. Wash the glass with warm soapy water, leave to dry and your glass is ready to party!
  • Why my candle has a rough top after burning?
This is caused when the hot wax in the melt pool cools and solidifies at an inconsistent rate. This is a feature of soy wax, and not a sign the crafter did anything incorrectly when making your candle. In fact, you should use this feature as a way to show the candle is made with an all-natural soy wax. It does not affect the performance of the candle. If you find you simply do not like the look of a soy candle post-burn, you can try not to burn your candle as long (so the glass doesn't get as hot). Or turn off air conditioning which will make the wax cool too fast and unevenly.
